About Us

Presently, we are a four classroom rural school in the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board. We have JK–grade 8 and an extended French program for JK–grade 8. We house the Mattawa Child Care Centre which includes a daily before and after school program. We are in an exciting phase of our school's history as we settle into our new St Victor school that opened three years ago. This beautiful building houses our daycare, a beautiful state-of-the-art gymnasium, brightly lit classrooms and several gorgeous outdoor play areas.

Our school consists of:

  • 67 students
  • 7 teachers (including a Classroom Resource Teacher and teacher of the hearing impaired), 2.0 Educational assistants, .8 secretary, 1 full time custodian and 1 part time custodian.
  • 4 classrooms plus a resource room and a french classroom

Technology at our school includes:

  • SMART Boards
  • Mobile laptop lab
  • iPods/iPads

Mission Statement

As a school community, we provide learning opportunities that inspire, nurture and celebrate each learner's journey to:

  • reach their full potential
  • be a contributing member of society
  • live the richness of their faith
  • embrace lifelong learning

Our Community

The community is made up of three related parts: our church, our homes and our school. Each one is necessary to the care, growth, and education of the children in our community.

Our Town

The community of Mattawa is nestled in a protective valley, at the junction of the Mattawa and Ottawa Rivers. The Ottawa River is a shared border between ourselves and the province of Quebec. We are connected to the province of Quebec by the old Moccasin Railway Line, now the route of the scenic Timber Train running between our town of Mattawa and the Quebec town of Temiscaming.
